The Trinamool Congress took the decision to remove Kunal Ghosh from his position as the party's general secretary, citing a misalignment between his recent views and the party's stance. The party clarified that Ghosh's expressions represented his personal opinions and should not be associated with the party's official position.
Previously, Kunal Ghosh had been relieved of his role as party spokesperson, and now, he has been removed from the position of general secretary of the state organization. The move came after Ghosh praised Tapas Roy, who had recently defected from the Trinamool Congress to join the BJP, during a public event in South Kolkata.
Ghosh's comments at the event indicated his admiration for Roy's character and contributions, despite their political differences. He also expressed his willingness to step down from his role as general secretary, stating that he had already communicated his decision to the party earlier.
Despite not receiving official communication about his removal from the party, Ghosh stated that he had seen the news circulating on WhatsApp and reiterated his commitment to the Trinamool Congress as a dedicated party worker.
