The director of We Live in Time commented on Florence Pugh shaving her head: She didn't tell anyone

Director **John Crowley** recently discussed **Florence Pugh**'s bold decision to shave her head for her role in **We Live in Time**, revealing that she took the initiative without prior consultation. He expressed his surprise, stating, "She didn’t tell anybody [that she was shaving her head]. It was sort of terrifying to me. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s really ballsy.’" During their first meeting, Pugh informed Crowley of her intention to shave her head, which he had expected might be a topic of discussion.

Although Pugh's dramatic look became unnecessary after the production of **Marvel’s Thunderbolts** was paused due to the WGA strike in June 2023, Crowley appreciated her dedication to the indie film over her larger Marvel project. He noted that the delays in **Thunderbolts** provided Pugh with the opportunity to focus on **We Live in Time**. Crowley praised her “fearlessness” and her decision against using bald wigs, which she felt wouldn't convey the authenticity required for her character. He remarked, "The smaller, more independent film was the one where the actor was saying, ‘This is the one I’m going to pitch my stake in the ground for and not creatively compromise on.’"

**We Live in Time** features **Andrew Garfield** alongside Pugh, marking their first collaboration. The film, penned by **Nick Payne**, explores themes of love, grief, and redemption, promising a poignant cinematic experience that resonates deeply with audiences. Crowley’s admiration for Pugh's commitment highlights the unique passion and creativity actors bring to their roles, especially in indie filmmaking.
