Watch: Rohit Sharma returns to his fatherly responsibilities in Mumbai following his Champions Trophy victory

India captain Rohit Sharma returned to Mumbai just a day after leading the team to victory in the Champions Trophy. Upon arrival, he embraced his father role, carrying his sleeping daughter, Samaira, in his arms. Rohit traveled back to India along with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and their two children. Fans gathered to greet him with joy as he drove home in his black Range Rover.

One of the most heartwarming moments from India’s Champions Trophy celebrations was when Rohit placed his winner’s medal around Samaira’s neck. She had been reluctant to leave his side, making the moment even more special.

Several Indian players have also returned home, though the team did not travel together, as many are set to join their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises spread across different cities.

Rohit Sharma Confirms He Is Not Retiring

Amid speculation about his future in ODI cricket, Rohit Sharma confirmed that he is not retiring from the format. While he remains uncertain about playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup, he emphasized that he will continue to play 50-over cricket beyond the Champions Trophy.

"Right now, I am taking things as they come. It wouldn’t be fair for me to think too far ahead. At this moment, my focus is on playing well and maintaining the right mindset. I don’t want to draw any lines and say whether I will or won’t play in the 2027 World Cup. There’s no point in making such statements right now. Realistically, I have always taken my career one step at a time. I don’t like thinking too far into the future, and I haven’t done so in the past either. For now, I am enjoying my cricket and the time I spend with this team. I hope my teammates enjoy my presence as well. That’s all that matters at this point," said Rohit.

The Indian captain played a crucial role in the final, leading from the front with a match-winning knock of 76 off 83 balls, featuring seven fours and three sixes. He built a strong 105-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill off 112 balls, setting up India’s successful chase of 252 runs.
