Barcelona’s head coach Hansi Flick emphasized the team’s collective effort after securing their 28th LaLiga title, pushing back against the idea that the victory was solely due to teenage star Lamine Yamal’s brilliance. Yamal’s crucial goal against Espanyol in the 53rd minute sealed a 2–0 win that confirmed Barcelona as champions for the 2024–25 season.
Flick highlighted that while Yamal played an important role, the title was a result of the entire team’s performance. “It’s Barcelona’s LaLiga. It’s not about one player... We are a team, and that’s the most important thing,” he said, praising everyone’s contribution and the club’s culture.
Barcelona’s youthful squad needed just one win from their final three matches to clinch the title, having recently beaten Real Madrid 4–3 in a thrilling El Clásico. The derby against Espanyol remained scoreless until Yamal’s moment of individual brilliance early in the second half, with Fermin Lopez adding a stoppage-time goal to cement the win.
This title capped a dominant domestic campaign for Barcelona, who have been unbeaten in Spain since their last defeat late last year. Alongside winning LaLiga, they also captured the Spanish Super Cup in January and defeated Madrid again in the Copa del Rey final.
Flick praised the team’s resilience, especially in the second half of the season, saying, “We haven’t lost a game and that’s just great.” He also emphasized the strong team culture they built, describing it as a “family.”
Their superiority was particularly clear in their four wins over Real Madrid across competitions this season, showcasing both tactical and mental strength. Yamal, at only 17, played a key role in these encounters, solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most promising talents.
Taking over after Xavi Hernández’s departure last year, Flick has successfully rejuvenated the squad in under a season, creating a confident, cohesive team that has restored hope and delivered multiple trophies at Camp Nou.
