In a significant breakthrough, the Telangana Police, in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh Police, has foiled a bomb plot in Hyderabad by arresting two terror suspects — Siraj, from Vizianagaram, and Sameer, from Hyderabad. The two were allegedly planning a dummy blast in the city, likely as a trial run before a more serious terror attack.
According to preliminary investigations, Siraj had procured explosive materials in Vizianagaram. Both individuals were reportedly acting under instructions from an ISIS module based in Saudi Arabia, which had been guiding them remotely to execute coordinated attacks in Hyderabad. The suspects are now in custody, and further interrogations are underway to trace the broader network.
This development comes amid heightened security measures following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians, including tourists, were killed. That attack, carried out by a group of terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, involved both Pakistani nationals and local operatives, and has since triggered a nationwide crackdown on terror modules and sleeper cells.
In parallel, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at 15 locations in Punjab on Friday. These raids are connected to the December 2023 grenade attack on a police station in Gurdaspur. The investigation has linked the attack to gangster Happy Passian, who is said to have ties with Pakistani-based Khalistani terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda.
These operations are part of a broader counter-terrorism campaign launched in the wake of Operation Sindoor, as India faces threats from cross-border and ideologically motivated terror networks, including ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Khalistani extremist groups. Security forces remain on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and southern states like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to prevent further attacks.
