Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan is currently embroiled in controversy after his former manager, Vipin Kumar, filed a police complaint accusing him of physical and verbal abuse. The case was registered with the Info Park police in Kochi. Vipin alleged that the conflict arose because Unni did not appreciate his praise for fellow actor Tovino Thomas’s recent film Narivetta.
Vipin, who described himself as a promotion consultant rather than a paid manager, said Unni called him and asked him to come down to the parking area of his building, where the alleged assault took place. He also lodged complaints with industry bodies FEFKA and AMMA. According to Vipin, Unni has been frustrated in recent months due to a lack of good film offers following the success of Marco, which achieved pan-Indian recognition. Vipin noted that Unni’s subsequent film, Get Set Baby, was a box office failure, and a planned directorial project backed by Gokulam Movies was withdrawn, exacerbating the actor’s frustrations.
Vipin said this frustration is now being directed toward those around Unni, including himself, after six years of working together. Unni Mukundan has not yet publicly responded to these allegations.
