Basil Joseph and Allu Arjun will work together on a superhero movie: Report

Actor Allu Arjun seems to be gearing up for a fresh phase in his career that goes beyond the Telugu industry, with increasing interest in pan-Indian collaborations. After the much-anticipated ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, he’s now exploring partnerships with acclaimed directors from other industries, the latest being Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph, known for the superhero hit Minnal Murali.

Here's what we know so far:

  • According to Gulte, Allu Arjun was impressed with a script narrated by Basil Joseph, and while nothing has been signed, he is reportedly keen to take it forward.

  • The film is likely to be produced by Geetha Arts, the production house run by Allu Arjun’s father Allu Aravind.

  • Music is expected to be composed by Jakes Bejoy, who previously worked on Malayalam hits like Ranam and Kaduva.

  • While some unconfirmed reports hint that the film could be a superhero project, others have gone further to speculate that it could even be a reboot of the cult classic 'Shaktimaan'—a project earlier linked with Ranveer Singh. However, this claim currently remains speculative and unsubstantiated.

Changing Project Line-Up:

Allu Arjun’s upcoming film slate appears to be in flux:

  • His previously announced film with Trivikram Srinivas, a mythological epic based on Lord Karthikeya, is now reportedly being developed with Jr NTR instead.

  • The much-talked-about collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga also seems delayed, as Vanga is currently busy with ‘Spirit’ (starring Prabhas) and ‘Animal Park’, the sequel to Animal.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun recently announced ‘AA22’ with director Atlee, marking another potential blockbuster collaboration, especially given Atlee’s track record (Jawan, Mersal, Bigil).

Why the Basil Joseph Collaboration Is Interesting:

  • Basil Joseph is celebrated for successfully blending superhero themes with regional storytelling in Minnal Murali.

  • A Basil–Allu Arjun film could offer a unique mix of stylized action, humor, and rooted emotional storytelling—especially if it builds on the Minnal Murali tone.

  • For Arjun, who has already established himself as a pan-India star, especially after the Pushpa phenomenon, a superhero outing could strengthen his hold on the mass-commercial cinema space across languages.

Verdict:

While there’s no official confirmation from either Allu Arjun’s camp or Basil Joseph, the buzz is gaining momentum. If the collaboration moves forward, it could be one of the most exciting and genre-bending pairings in recent Indian cinema.

For now, all eyes remain on Pushpa 2, but Allu Arjun clearly has his sights set on breaking new cinematic ground soon after.
