Recovering to fitness: How Pankaj Tripathi's year-long hiatus inspired him to pursue new objectives

Pankaj Tripathi recently opened up about taking a silent one-year break from acting to focus on mental and physical healing. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, he shared how the hiatus was a period of deep self-reflection and fitness improvement. Without announcing his break publicly, he dedicated himself to working out intensely—two and a half to three hours, six days a week—which helped him lose weight. During this time, he also traveled to Goa and abroad for relaxation, only doing occasional ad work but no new film projects.

He emphasized that although he had plenty of time, he chose to spend it on himself rather than on external commitments. Pankaj revealed that before the break, he often felt bored with his roles and found himself simply waiting for shoots to end, which conflicted with his love for acting. That dissatisfaction motivated him to pause and rethink his career approach.

Now, he says he’s more selective about the roles he accepts, prioritizing projects that excite him rather than working just for money. His last screen appearance was in the JioHotstar series Criminal Justice.
