After a successful acting career, Shweta Tripathi has stepped into producing with her banner, AllMyTea Productions—a clever play on “almighty” and a nod to the ever-important tea on sets. Her latest production is the queer-themed play Cock by Mike Bartlett, featuring Rytasha Rathore in the lead.
Shweta spoke about her deep connection to the play’s themes of identity and relationships, highlighting its witty, award-winning script and important dialogues that challenge societal labels and judgments around sexuality. Though hungry to act, she chose not to cast herself, valuing the right fit for the role and praising Rytasha’s performance after extensive auditions.
As a producer, Shweta is hands-on—learning the ropes, managing accounts, and supporting her cast and crew fully. She underscored the importance of audience support for such powerful stories and addressed the casting debate by emphasizing talent and dedication over ticking boxes, while still aiming to work inclusively with the LGBTQI+ community.
Shweta beautifully described the LGBTQI+ community as embodying love, freedom, and respect, and encouraged society to shed old prejudices rooted in conditioning, citing even ancient texts as embracing diversity.
With ambitions to direct films and shows, she remains driven to fulfill her dreams without regrets. She hopes Cock will tour beyond Delhi and Mumbai, reaching audiences nationally and internationally.
Cock premieres June 6 in Delhi and June 10 at Mumbai’s Prithvi Theatre—definitely a must-watch for anyone interested in bold, heartfelt theatre exploring modern identity.
