Preity Zinta, owner of Punjab Kings (PBKS), finally spoke out after her team’s narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL final. Acknowledging the tournament didn’t end as she hoped, Preity described the journey as “spectacular,” calling it exciting, entertaining, and inspiring.
She gave a big shoutout to the young PBKS squad, especially captain Shreyas Iyer—affectionately known as Sarpanch Sahab among fans—for leading from the front. Preity praised the grit and fight shown by the team, highlighting the standout performances from India’s uncapped players throughout the IPL.
Reflecting on the challenges faced, she mentioned the team smashed records despite losing key players to injuries and national duties, dealing with a tournament pause, shifting home games across states, and even evacuating a stadium. Despite all this, PBKS topped the points table after a decade and fought hard till the very end in a thrilling final.
Promising to come back stronger next year, Preity expressed pride in the players and the support staff for their character and resilience throughout the season. She also extended heartfelt thanks to the loyal Sher Squad fans, whose unwavering support she credited for the team’s journey and progress.
Closing her message, she vowed, “the job is still half done,” and pledged to return to “finish the job” in the next season. The final was a nail-biter, with RCB edging PBKS by just 6 runs to win their first-ever IPL title after 18 years, in a tense match held in Ahmedabad.
Preity’s heartfelt message reflects a blend of pride, gratitude, and determination to come back stronger next season.
