After a protracted fight with cancer, actor Julian McMahon passes away at age 56

Julian McMahon, the charismatic Australian-American actor best known for his roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, and Fantastic Four, has died at the age of 56 following a prolonged battle with cancer. His wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement, saying, “Julian passed away peacefully this week after a courageous battle to beat cancer. He adored life, his work, his fans, and above all, his family.”

McMahon, son of former Australian Prime Minister Sir William McMahon, first rose to fame as a model before making a name for himself in Australian television. His breakout international roles came in the American soaps Another World and Profiler, but it was his portrayal of Cole Turner on Charmed that gained him a devoted fan following.

His most acclaimed performance came as the seductive and morally complex Dr. Christian Troy in FX’s Nip/Tuck. The role earned him a Golden Globe nomination and established him as a leading man in American television.

On the big screen, McMahon portrayed the iconic villain Victor Von Doom in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). His filmography also includes Premonition, RED, and Paranoia.

In recent years, he led CBS's FBI: Most Wanted as Jess LaCroix, staying with the series for three years before his departure in 2022. He also had roles in Hulu’s Marvel’s Runaways and Netflix’s The Residence, in which he played the role of the Australian Prime Minister.

Dick Wolf, creator of FBI, mourned the loss, stating, “We are saddened by the loss of Julian. Our condolences go out to his whole family.”

Julian McMahon is remembered not only for his acting range and screen presence but also for the joy and passion he brought to his craft and to his fans around the world.
