Bill Gates is no longer one of the world’s 10 richest people. As of July 8, 2025, he ranks 12th on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a net worth of $124 billion.
He is now behind Michael Dell ($137 billion) and Steve Ballmer ($172 billion), his former Microsoft teammate.
The reason for Gates’s drop isn’t bad investments — it’s his charity work. Bloomberg recently adjusted his wealth to account for his large donations. About $52 billion was deducted from his total. Gates and his ex-wife Melinda have already donated over $60 billion to the Gates Foundation.
The foundation plans to spend another $200 billion by 2045 and then shut down.
