In the midst of the buzz around Panchayat Season 4, one particular moment between Sachiv Ji and Rinki—played by Jitendra Kumar and Sanvikaa—has caught public attention. A recent comment by Sanvikaa, where she said she refused to do a kissing scene with Jitendra, sparked a lot of discussion. Now, Jitendra Kumar has addressed the issue, saying her statement was misunderstood.
Speaking to NDTV, Jitendra explained, “Sanvikaa’s comment was taken out of context. When the scene came up, I asked the makers to take her consent first. That was very important.” He clarified that the original plan was to make the scene humorously awkward, with a kiss almost happening before the lights go out—but it ended up being shot differently.
He also stated he’s fine with kissing scenes if they’re essential to the story. “I kissed Ayushmann Khurrana in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and I’ve kissed actresses too. I don’t have issues with such scenes as an actor. But whatever we do should connect with the audience and enhance the story,” he said.
Sanvikaa had earlier told Just Too Filmy that she was informed of a kissing scene later, during filming prep. “Initially, no one mentioned it. Then the director told me there was a kissing scene planned, where Rinki falls in the car and they kiss,” she said. She took two days to think about it and eventually refused, saying the show has a large family audience. “I wasn’t comfortable. The makers respected that and changed the scene. They added the water tank scene instead,” she revealed.
Their mature handling of the situation has been appreciated by fans, who praised both actors for prioritizing story integrity and mutual respect.
