Muthuswamy and Bosch destroy Zimbabwe as South Africa completes a 2-0 thumping

South Africa completed a dominant 2-0 Test series whitewash over Zimbabwe with a crushing innings and 236-run victory in the second Test at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. After enforcing the follow-on, South Africa—under stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder—wrapped up the match on Day 3 by bowling out Zimbabwe for 220 in their second innings.

Zimbabwe began the day at 51/1, still 405 runs behind. Despite a better fight with the bat, thanks to Nick Welch (55) and captain Craig Ervine (49), Zimbabwe couldn’t avoid another heavy defeat. Corbin Bosch (4/38) and Senuran Muthuswamy (3/77) led the charge with the ball, while Codi Yousuf also picked up two wickets.

Wiaan Mulder was the standout performer throughout the series. He scored an unbeaten 367 in the first innings—now the highest individual Test score by a South African—and finished the series with 531 runs from three innings. He was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series.

This win marks South Africa’s third-largest victory margin in Tests and extends their winning streak to 10 consecutive matches—their best ever in the format. The victory also comes shortly after they were crowned World Test Championship winners, having beaten Australia in the final.

Zimbabwe’s batting showed flashes of resistance, particularly through Welch and Ervine, but they were unable to withstand the pressure from a strong South African attack.
