A SpiceJet flight from Goa to Pune experienced a mid-air scare when a window frame inside the cabin became loose. Passengers on board flight SG1080 were alarmed as a portion of the interior window trim nearly fell off, prompting concerns about the aircraft’s safety. One passenger captured and shared a video of the dislodged frame on social media.
SpiceJet clarified that the component was a non-structural, cosmetic trim used for shading, and not a part of the aircraft's pressure-bearing structure. The airline emphasized that cabin pressurization remained normal throughout the flight and passenger safety was never compromised. They noted that the Q400 aircraft used on this route is designed with multiple window layers, including a strong, pressure-bearing outer pane.
After the flight landed safely, the loose frame was fixed according to standard maintenance procedures. Despite the airline's reassurances, some passengers questioned the aircraft’s airworthiness, especially since the same plane was scheduled to fly to Jaipur next.
