A fire broke out early this morning near the Sri Govindaraju Swamy Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, reportedly due to a short circuit, resulting in significant property damage in the area.
Two fire engines were deployed to the site, and while fire personnel managed to bring the blaze under control, a shop and a shed were completely destroyed. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage and investigating the cause of the incident further.
The Sri Govindaraju Swamy Temple, situated approximately 9 km from the Tirupati Balaji Temple, is a major religious and cultural landmark. Located on North Mada Street in Tirumala, it is one of the oldest and largest temple complexes in the district and is administered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The temple holds immense significance in the region, with the surrounding city of Tirupati having developed around it over centuries.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries, but the incident has raised concerns about fire safety infrastructure and emergency preparedness in the temple vicinity.
