CCTV shows a UP man groping a woman wearing a burqa as she walks alone down the street


An incident of street harassment in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad has sparked widespread outrage after CCTV footage showing a man groping a burqa-clad woman went viral on social media. The assault occurred in the Gol Kothi Wali Gali area, where the woman was walking alone when the accused approached her from behind and suddenly groped her. In the video, the woman is seen struggling before managing to fend off the attacker, who fled the scene immediately.

The Nagfani police, who have jurisdiction over the area, took immediate cognizance of the video once it began circulating online. A case has been registered against the unidentified suspect, and the police have launched a thorough investigation to locate and apprehend him. “We have registered a case and are reviewing the CCTV footage. The accused will be identified and arrested soon,” said the inspector of Nagfani police station.

The disturbing visuals have led to a wave of anger among Moradabad residents and social media users, who are now questioning the state’s commitment to ensuring women’s safety. Many voiced their concerns on the social media platform X, tagging authorities and demanding swift justice.

Responding to the public outrage, Moradabad Police posted an official statement on X, confirming that a case has been filed and that the Nagfani station in-charge has been directed to conduct a thorough probe. They assured the public that strong action would follow, promising that the accused would be apprehended without delay.

This incident has added to ongoing concerns about women's safety in Uttar Pradesh and underscores the urgent need for improved surveillance, patrolling, and rapid response measures to prevent such crimes.
