In an Andhra Pradesh home fire, a mother and daughter perish; a short circuit is suspected

A tragic fire incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharama Raju district claimed the lives of a young mother and her daughter. The victims, identified as 28-year-old Gayatri and her daughter Arella Sai Pallavi, lost their lives after a blaze engulfed their home in Rampachodavaram village.

The fire reportedly broke out while the child was watching television and had fallen asleep. Upon noticing the flames, Gayatri rushed in to rescue her daughter. However, both were overwhelmed by the blaze and sustained severe burn injuries. Their desperate cries alerted neighbours, who rushed in and tried to douse the flames. Despite their efforts and immediate medical attention, both mother and daughter succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital.

Local police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest that an electrical short circuit may have sparked the blaze, though an official confirmation is still pending.

This heartbreaking incident follows another recent fire in the state, near the Govindaraju Swamy temple in Tirupati, on July 3. That fire, also suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, resulted in damage to a shop and shed but was brought under control by emergency responders.

These incidents highlight the critical need for increased fire safety awareness and preventive measures, particularly concerning electrical systems in homes.
