Chirag Paswan's comments about Nitish Kumar infuriated the BJP, which wants to hold talks shortly: References

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken note of and expressed concern over recent remarks made by Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan that targeted Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar, according to senior party sources. These comments, particularly those related to the state’s law-and-order situation, are viewed by the BJP leadership as potentially damaging to the unity and image of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar.

In response to the growing unease, a closed-door meeting between BJP leaders and Chirag Paswan is expected to take place soon. The objective of this discussion will be to address the matter directly and work towards resolving internal issues before they escalate further, especially with the Bihar assembly elections approaching.

According to sources, the BJP is concerned that such public criticism of Nitish Kumar could send confusing signals to the electorate, dilute the NDA’s collective messaging, and weaken its position against the opposition Mahagathbandhan. The party has reiterated its stance that Nitish Kumar will remain the NDA’s chief ministerial face in the state and that the upcoming elections will be contested under his leadership. Senior leaders emphasise that maintaining a clear and united front is critical, pointing out that recent rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have reinforced the perception of NDA solidarity.

The BJP is also paying close attention to Chirag Paswan’s statements hinting at his interest in contesting the state assembly elections. Some within the party fear that this could be interpreted as a sign of internal competition rather than alliance cooperation. Nonetheless, party insiders suggest that these remarks may simply be a strategic move by Chirag to mobilise his party workers and strengthen his own political standing.

Despite the tension, sources believe that the situation is unlikely to result in a major rift. The upcoming meeting is expected to serve as a platform for candid discussion, conflict resolution, and reaffirmation of the NDA’s shared goals in Bihar.
