JD Vance claims to be "obsessed" with UFOs and promises to look into Area 51 while on vacation

During a recent episode of the Ruthless podcast, U.S. Vice President JD Vance revealed his deep personal fascination with unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), commonly known as UFOs. “I’m obsessed with the whole UFO thing. What’s actually going on? What were those videos all about?” Vance remarked, expressing a strong desire to investigate the topic further during the upcoming August congressional break.

Though he didn’t specify which videos caught his attention, the U.S. has seen a flurry of viral footage and official disclosures about unexplained aerial sightings in recent years. Vance even joked about taking the podcast hosts to Area 51 once he “gets to the bottom” of the phenomenon.

His comments follow heightened public interest and official scrutiny of UAPs. A 2023 House Oversight Committee hearing reignited debates after testimony from Luis Elizondo, the former head of the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Elizondo claimed that the U.S. government possesses credible evidence of extraterrestrial life and accused unnamed officials of forming a “cabal” that has long suppressed this information.

Public intrigue was further stoked when residents in New Jersey reported seeing SUV-sized drones flying overhead last December. The incident sparked concerns about surveillance and national security until the Trump administration released a report in January stating the drones were legally authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for research purposes.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sought to calm public fears, confirming, “The drones flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized by the FAA for research and various other reasons.”

Vance’s interest in UAPs adds a new layer of curiosity from within the highest levels of government, as the mystery surrounding unexplained aerial sightings continues to capture both public and political attention.
