The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is preparing to hold a highly significant three-day coordination meeting in Jodhpur from September 5 to 7. This gathering has already attracted widespread attention because it is expected to focus not only on the organisational review of the Sangh and its affiliated bodies but also on political developments, including the possibility of finalising the new President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). With the term of the current leadership nearing its close, speculation is intensifying that discussions surrounding the name of the new BJP chief will form a crucial part of the agenda.
The meeting will be attended by the top brass of the RSS, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, as well as the Sah Sarkaryavahs, who serve as joint general secretaries. In addition to these senior leaders, the entire National Executive Committee of the RSS will participate, along with coordinators who act as the link between various affiliated organisations. Their combined presence underlines the seriousness of the issues expected to be debated and decided during the course of the meeting.
Furthermore, this event is not restricted to RSS functionaries alone. Leaders and representatives from 32 different organisations associated with the Sangh Parivar will also be present. These include prominent groups such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, and Seva Samiti. Their participation signifies that the meeting will act as a central platform for coordination across all layers of the Sangh’s wide organisational network, allowing diverse groups to voice their perspectives and submit reports on their yearly activities.
Among the senior BJP leadership, party president JP Nadda and organisational head BL Santosh will attend, accompanied by other influential leaders such as Sunil Bansal, Shivprakash, Saudan Singh, and V Satish. Their presence is particularly important because of the speculation about leadership transition within the BJP. By bringing both RSS and BJP leaders together in one place, the meeting could potentially pave the way for major decisions regarding the party’s future structure and leadership.
The agenda will be broad and multi-dimensional. Each participating organisation will present a detailed one-year report, highlighting its achievements, challenges, and future plans. In addition, contemporary issues of national and international importance, such as the impact of US trade tariffs, will be discussed in depth. The discussions are expected to address both domestic socio-political matters and external economic challenges, reflecting the RSS’s increasing role in influencing a wide spectrum of national policies.
Apart from organisational matters, another major highlight will be preparations for the centenary year celebrations of the RSS, which is approaching soon. The Sangh views its centenary year as a landmark occasion, and detailed planning is likely to take place during this Jodhpur meeting to ensure that the celebrations reflect the scale and influence the RSS has built over the decades. According to sources, the deliberations will cover outreach programmes, events to showcase the Sangh’s contributions to society, and strategies to expand its influence further in the coming years.
Meanwhile, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has a busy schedule even before this meeting. He is slated to be in Delhi on August 26 and 28 at Vigyan Bhavan, where he will meet distinguished personalities from a variety of professional fields. During this engagement, he will not only hold discussions but also respond to questions that are to be submitted in writing over two days. This format is reminiscent of a similar interactive programme held at Vigyan Bhavan back in September 2018, where Bhagwat engaged in open dialogue with prominent figures and addressed critical queries about the Sangh’s ideology and activities.
The upcoming coordination meeting in Jodhpur, therefore, is more than just a routine organisational exercise. It carries both political and strategic importance, given the presence of senior BJP leaders and the ongoing speculation about leadership changes within the party. It is also expected to shape the long-term direction of the Sangh Parivar, setting the tone for the RSS’s centenary celebrations and its role in guiding both social and political movements across the country. By combining organisational reviews, political discussions, and national issues, the Jodhpur meeting is likely to become a defining event in the immediate future of the RSS and its affiliated organisations.
