A car exploded in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday, injuring several people, though the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
The incident comes months after a series of explosions in February, when three empty buses in southern Tel Aviv were targeted with explosive devices. No casualties were reported in those attacks since the buses were empty at the time.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the first two bus bombs detonated within minutes of each other, while the third exploded about fifteen minutes later. Authorities also discovered additional explosives on two other buses that had not gone off.
Police determined that all five bombs from the February attacks were identical and equipped with timers, suggesting a coordinated operation. Following those incidents, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered intensified military raids across the West Bank.
Tel Aviv district police chief Haim Sargarof noted that the explosives used in the bus attacks were improved devices, showing characteristics consistent with materials originating from the West Bank.
