How Varun Suresh, an Indian guy, planned the murder of a pedophile in the United States

A 29-year-old Indian-origin man, Varun Suresh, has been charged with murder after fatally stabbing 71-year-old David Brimmer in Fremont, California. Suresh admitted targeting Brimmer because he was a registered sex offender, describing him as a “paedophile.” He said he had wanted to kill a sex offender for years, identified Brimmer through California’s public Megan’s Law registry, assumed a false identity, and then carried out the attack.

Court documents revealed that Suresh had taken multiple screenshots of sex offender profiles, including Brimmer’s, shortly before the stabbing. He posed as a certified public accountant to approach Brimmer’s home, entered forcibly, and stabbed him in the neck, resulting in Brimmer’s death at the scene. A knife was recovered from Suresh, who was detained at the location.

Suresh told investigators that his motivation stemmed from the belief that all child sex offenders “deserve to die,” and he shared a quote he felt justified the act: “It is not your duty to decide whether heaven will accept them; it's your duty to send them to the gates.” He did not know Brimmer personally before the attack.

Investigators found that Suresh had captured screenshots of several profiles from the sex offender registry roughly 45 minutes before the 911 call reporting the stabbing. To gain Brimmer’s trust, Suresh carried props such as a bag, a notebook, and coffee, and pretended to be non-threatening during a brief conversation. He then forced his way into Brimmer’s residence, chasing him into the kitchen, where he allegedly stabbed him in the neck and cut his throat.

Suresh reportedly expressed hope that his actions would be seen as acceptable because the victim was a paedophile. His criminal history includes a 2021 arrest for making a false bomb threat, criminal threats, and burglary, during which he claimed he had been “hunting” the CEO of Hyatt Hotels, whom he believed was a paedophile.
