The latest baby from Deep State: A BJP leader criticizes actor Vijay and claims that TVK exhibits a naxal attitude

BJP leader Vinoj P. Selvam launched a strong attack on actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), accusing them of adopting a political approach similar to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Speaking on Thursday, Selvam alleged that Vijay and his party were following what he termed a “DMK-style opposition toolkit,” which, according to him, was designed to obstruct growth and development in Tamil Nadu. He further sharpened his criticism by calling Vijay the “Deep State’s new baby,” claiming that while the DMK was the original force behind such tactics, the responsibility of stalling progress had now shifted to Vijay and his newly formed party.

Selvam went on to argue that just as the DMK had hampered development when it was in opposition, Vijay was now replicating the same strategy through TVK. He echoed an earlier remark made by BJP leader Pandian, alleging that the party began with what he described as a “naxal mindset.” He claimed that the activities and rhetoric of TVK resembled “textbook opposition propaganda,” aimed more at political disruption than constructive governance. Asserting that the BJP would not tolerate such tendencies, Selvam said his party was determined to “uproot this mindset” to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s developmental trajectory.

While speaking at the India Today Conclave on September 9, Selvam also recalled past political maneuvers, pointing out that in 2021 the DMK had allegedly “created” Kamal Haasan’s political entry to split votes and secure an advantage in the elections. According to him, a similar pattern was now being repeated with Vijay, but he warned that this time the move could backfire. He suggested that the “monster” created in the form of Vijay might not just harm others, but could also significantly undermine the DMK’s own prospects in the 2026 elections, particularly given the rising wave of anti-incumbency sentiment across the state.
