WhatsApp conversations reveal an affair when a Madhya Pradesh woman elopes with her sister-in-law

A highly unusual case has emerged from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, where a woman allegedly eloped with her sister-in-law, leaving behind her husband and young son. The startling development came to light after the husband, Ashutosh, reportedly discovered mobile chats that confirmed a romantic relationship between his wife, Sandhya, and his cousin, Mansi. The incident has since sparked significant local discussion, as police continue efforts to trace the two women who have gone missing.

Ashutosh and Sandhya had been married for seven years and were known to share a seemingly stable relationship. The couple has a five-year-old son, and the family has been living in Jabalpur, where Ashutosh had shifted to pursue his studies. Within this domestic setup, Mansi, Ashutosh’s cousin, was a regular visitor to their home. She often accompanied Sandhya on routine activities such as going to the market, which appeared to be natural given their close family connection. No one suspected that the bond between the two women was anything more than casual companionship.

The situation took a sudden and dramatic turn on August 12, when Sandhya unexpectedly went missing from her home. She was later traced to Jabalpur railway station, where she was briefly reunited with her husband and son. However, just ten days later, on August 22, Sandhya vanished again. This time, she left her mobile phone behind and has not been seen since. Her prolonged absence led a distressed Ashutosh to go through her phone, where he uncovered messages strongly suggesting that Sandhya was romantically involved with Mansi. This revelation led to the suspicion that the two women had eloped together.

Following the discovery, Ashutosh lodged a complaint at Ghampaur police station in Jabalpur Rural. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suryakant Sharma confirmed the complaint and said that a case had been registered. He explained that while the absence of Sandhya’s mobile phone made electronic tracking more difficult, police teams had collected some technical evidence and were actively pursuing leads to trace the woman.

The case has gained widespread attention, not only because of the elopement but also due to the revelation of a same-sex relationship within the confines of a traditional family structure. The development has generated surprise and discussion in the local community, highlighting both the personal turmoil and the social sensitivities surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, Ashutosh and his family are reportedly struggling to cope with the situation, as police continue their search for Sandhya and Mansi.
