At the White House, US envoy Sergio Gor meets with PM Modi and presents him with a picture of himself with Trump


US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, engaging in discussions that focused on key areas of cooperation such as defence, trade, technology, and critical minerals. During the meeting, Gor presented Prime Minister Modi with a signed photograph featuring himself and former US President Donald Trump at the White House. The photograph carried a personal message from Trump that read, “Mr Prime Minister, you are great,” symbolising the warm ties between the two leaders.

Prime Minister Modi shared a picture from the meeting on social media, expressing optimism about the future of India–US relations. “Glad to receive Mr Sergio Gor, Ambassador-designate of the US to India. I’m confident that his tenure will further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” Modi wrote, highlighting the shared vision for expanding cooperation across multiple domains.

Following the meeting, Gor stated that President Trump continues to hold Prime Minister Modi in high regard, describing him as a “great and personal friend.” He added that the conversation touched upon a wide range of issues, including trade collaboration, defence partnerships, technological advancements, and the strategic role of critical minerals in the evolving global landscape.
