Punjab police had a significant reorganization, with 133 officers moving throughout the state

The Punjab Police has undertaken a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring 133 officers of ASP and DSP rank across districts and specialised units to strengthen operational efficiency and coordination. The large-scale reallocation covers newly inducted IPS officers, those awaiting postings after basic training, and recently promoted DSPs. The official notification emphasizes that the reshuffle is intended to optimise police operations, enhance field-specialised unit coordination, and improve law and order management throughout the state.

Among the key postings, Ashok Meena, IPS (RR 2022), upon completion of basic training, has been appointed ASP SD North, Jalandhar, while Dharavath Sai Prakash (RR 2022) joins the Intelligence Wing as ASP. Anubhav Jain and Ghazalpreet Kaur (RR 2023) have also received postings as ASPs in different districts, with Dheerendra Verma taking charge as ASP SD Zirakpur, SAS Nagar. Newly promoted officers such as Dharamvir Singh (DR 2016) have been assigned to DSP SD City-2, Patiala. Additionally, officers like Sukhdev Singh and Jangjit Singh have been appointed to positions including ACP Detective-2, Ludhiana, and DSP SD Ahmedgarh, Malerkotla, respectively.

The reshuffle also affects specialised units, with officers moving across the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Crime Against Women & Children Units, Vigilance Bureau, Special Branch, Cyber Crime Wing, and Homicide & Forensics Divisions. Kikar Singh has been promoted to DSP SD North, Ludhiana, while Narinder Singh has been transferred to DSP SD Kartarpur, Jalandhar Rural. Gurpreet Singh, Sanjeev Kapur, and Dev Dutt have also been assigned to key district and specialised posts, including the AGTF, Intelligence Wing, Security Wing, Technical Services Wing, and Special Operations Group (SOG).

Officials stressed that these changes are part of routine administrative restructuring to ensure better district-level leadership and operational effectiveness. By strategically deploying officers across both field and specialised units, the Punjab Police aims to bolster law enforcement, improve inter-unit coordination, and enhance public safety across the state.
