Singer Manas Robin provides vital evidence and participates in the investigation of Zubeen Garg's killing

Singer and composer Manas Robin appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday to submit key documents related to the investigation into the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg. Robin, who is also a music director, said the documents were collected from public sources and could help the SIT better understand the circumstances, motives, and details surrounding Garg’s death. He emphasized that his role is strictly limited to providing evidence, stating, “This is not about my personal belief. It's purely about documentation, proof, and evidence. I trust that the SIT will handle these materials responsibly.”

Robin expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation, noting that discussions with the SIT had given him hope that the case was progressing correctly. “We are all hopeful that we will soon get the final answer, whether it was an accident, a murder, or a conspiracy,” he said. His submission fulfilled an earlier commitment he had made on the day of Garg’s funeral to hand over any evidence in his possession.

The investigation gained momentum following the arrest of Garg’s cousin, Assam Police Service officer DSP Sandipan Garg, who was with the singer on a yacht in Singapore, where Garg died on September 19. Sandipan was remanded to police custody for seven days after appearing before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, though the SIT had requested a 14-day remand. Before this, four others were also detained, including Garg’s bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, manager Siddharth Sharma, event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, and musician Amritprava Mahanta.

Shekhar Jyoti Goswami had claimed that Garg’s manager and the event organiser may have poisoned him, deliberately choosing a foreign location to obscure the act. Garg, aged 52, was a renowned figure in Bollywood and Assamese music and had died while swimming near an island during a yacht outing in Singapore, where he had travelled to perform at the North East India Festival.
