Amit Shah needs to step down since he is aware of Modi's secrets: Priyank Kharge on the explosion in Delhi

Karnataka ministers Priyank Kharge and M. B. Patil have sharply criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the Delhi Red Fort blast, which killed ten people, alleging serious security lapses and demanding his resignation.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Tuesday, IT and Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge called Amit Shah “the most incompetent Home Minister in independent India,” saying that the incident exposed repeated failures in national security management. He argued that in any other democracy, a minister facing such lapses “would have been thrown out of the Cabinet,” but claimed Shah remained “indispensable because he shares all the secrets of Mr Modi.”

Kharge cited multiple previous security failures, including Pulwama and Manipur, and accused the Union government of evading accountability. “Whose responsibility is it to protect the borders and ensure safety — Mr Gandhi’s or Mr Kharge’s? It’s his duty as Home Minister,” he said, adding that Shah must resign before any serious discussion on internal security could begin.

Industries Minister M. B. Patil also demanded Shah’s resignation, describing the Delhi explosion as “a heinous act” and “a clear failure of security,” especially given its proximity to a high-security zone in the national capital. Drawing a comparison with the Rameshwaram Café blast in Bengaluru earlier this year, Patil said, “When it happened here, resignations were sought and accountability was fixed. Now, they too must take responsibility. The Home Minister should resign.”

Patil further stated that regardless of whether the Delhi incident was a terror strike or a chemical blast, the magnitude and location of the explosion pointed to a grave breach in national security. He added that the government’s immediate focus should be on providing assistance to victims and their families while ensuring that such incidents do not recur.
