Delhi Police have recovered new video material that is expected to considerably widen the scope of the investigation into the AQI protest held at Kartavya Path, where demonstrators raised posters supporting Maoist leader Madavi Hidma. According to officials, several individuals arrested during the protest appear in the recovered footage openly expressing support for banned extremist organisations, prompting an expanded inquiry into the networks behind the demonstration.
One video now under examination was reportedly recorded earlier this year in Hyderabad and shows members of the Bhagat Singh Student Ekta Manch (BSCEM) gathered inside a conference room. In the clip, students are seen raising slogans and singing in praise of the Radical Students Union (RSU), which has been a proscribed organisation under central government orders since 2005. Investigators are now analysing whether the expressions of support for RSU in the Hyderabad meeting connect in any way to the slogans raised at Kartavya Path.
Officials also confirmed that two women featured in the Hyderabad footage, identified as sisters Gurkirat and Ravjot, were among those who brandished posters supporting Hidma at the Delhi protest. Both were arrested along with other demonstrators after the incident. Police are now closely reviewing the digital footprints and social media activity of all accused to determine whether the protest was part of a coordinated ideological campaign or linked to larger networks operating across states. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as the probe deepens.
