A married couple in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, were found dead inside their home in what police believe to be a murder-suicide triggered by suspected marital discord. When officers entered the house after neighbours reported that the couple had not been seen all day, they found 32-year-old Neha (also known as Shivani) lying dead on a bed with signs of strangulation. Her husband, Raj Tambe, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in the same room.
Investigators found a message written on a wall in lipstick, apparently by Raj, accusing his wife of an extramarital relationship. The note claimed she had been “talking to someone else” and “caught meeting in the park,” and mentioned the name “Rajesh Biswas” along with a mobile number. Police also recovered a handwritten suicide note blaming this individual for the circumstances that led to the deaths.
The couple worked as sanitation staff at Lions Company and had a love marriage about a decade ago. They shared three children, who fortunately were not at home at the time of the tragedy. According to preliminary findings, Raj suspected Shivani of infidelity and allegedly confronted her after catching her on a call with another man on Saturday evening.
Police suspect Raj may have strangled his wife before taking his own life, but the exact sequence of events will be confirmed after post-mortem results. Efforts are underway to trace the individual named in the notes as part of the ongoing investigation.
