Trump revokes orders from the Biden administration, arguing that autopen signings render them void

President Donald Trump has declared that he is cancelling all Biden-era executive orders and directives that he claims were not personally signed by Joe Biden. In a Truth Social post, he alleged that most of Biden’s documents were approved using an autopen instead of Biden’s own signature and therefore hold no legal validity. Trump offered no evidence to support his claim but insisted that any document bearing an autopen signature is now terminated. He also warned that anyone asserting Biden personally approved the documents would face perjury charges.

Trump stated that approximately 92 percent of Biden’s directives were signed using the autopen and described that practice as illegal unless the president explicitly authorises its use. His announcement follows months of mockery and criticism regarding Biden’s reliance on the autopen. Earlier this year, Trump unveiled a Presidential Walk of Fame outside the White House that included portraits of every former president except Biden, replacing Biden’s portrait with an image of an autopen signing his name.

The White House has not issued any comment on Trump’s statement or the status of Biden-era policies. Legal experts note that autopen signatures have been used by several past administrations and are recognised as valid under federal guidelines. Trump has continued to challenge that precedent since returning to office, raising uncertainty over whether his declaration will have practical or legal effect.
