Video: Army test-fires BrahMos missile, displays long-range strike power

The Indian Army on Monday carried out a successful test-firing of a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile over the Bay of Bengal, demonstrating the system’s capability for long-range precision strikes. The launch was executed by a BrahMos unit under the Southern Command, with operational support from the Andaman & Nicobar Command.

The missile struck its designated target with high accuracy, confirming that its navigation, guidance and control mechanisms are functioning optimally. According to the Army, the trial fulfilled every planned objective and reaffirmed that BrahMos units are fully prepared for live operational deployment whenever required.

Southern Command chief Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth lauded the achievement, describing it as a significant boost to the Army’s long-range strike capabilities. The launch also reinforces confidence in India’s domestically developed missile systems and aligns with the broader goal of defence self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme.

In its statement, the Army said the successful test reflects India’s increasing indigenous strength in defence technology and showcases the Army’s readiness to take on future strategic and operational challenges.
