The Home Minister claims Vijay is uninformed of the Puducherry Chief Minister's avoidance of the TVK tie-up question

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy avoided a direct response when questioned about a possible alliance with Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), replying only with a brief “thank you.” He acknowledged that Vijay had thanked the Puducherry government in his recent speech and noted that the actor supported Puducherry’s demand for Statehood to streamline administration.

Home Minister A Namachivayam took a sharper stance, criticising Vijay for “not knowing about Puducherry” and accusing him of making statements without factual understanding. He argued that several welfare schemes across sectors were being carried out using Central government funds, which Vijay failed to recognise. On the Statehood demand, Namachivayam pointed out that the issue had been pending for more than a decade and had not been resolved even under previous Congress governments, describing it as a lengthy and complex process.

Namachivayam also suggested that Vijay’s praise for the Chief Minister while criticising the BJP could signal an attempt to build political ties with the ruling NR Congress. He implied that Vijay was targeting the BJP while sparing the Puducherry government because of the possibility of future alliance talks.

He further remarked that Vijay had not found enough platforms to speak in Tamil Nadu recently and that the Puducherry event gave him a large public stage after more than two months. Responding to Vijay’s speech, the Home Minister said many of the actor’s claims were “not true” and alleged that the remarks were based on incorrect information provided by a script writer.
