A Gujarati man was murdered over a love marriage by his buddy and wife's brother

A violent incident unfolded in broad daylight on Wednesday near Pancheshwar Tower in Jamnagar, where a 28-year-old man was fatally stabbed in what police have described as a murder triggered by a dispute related to a love marriage. The victim sustained multiple stab injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, but despite medical efforts, his life could not be saved.

The deceased was identified as Nilay Kundaliya, a resident of Adinath Apartment. According to the police, the attack took place close to his residence and was carried out by two men—his brother-in-law, Manish Mori, along with his associate, Sohil. Investigators stated that the assailants used sharp-edged weapons, repeatedly stabbing Nilay and causing severe injuries.

Police officials said Nilay’s wife was present at the scene when the assault began. She attempted to intervene and stop the attackers, but was unsuccessful. She then raised an alarm and shouted for help, which drew the attention of nearby residents. Responding quickly, local people gathered at the spot and alerted emergency services and the police.

Nilay was immediately taken to GG Hospital in an extremely critical state. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Hospital authorities subsequently informed the police, who registered a case of murder and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

Personnel from the City A Division police station reached the crime scene shortly after receiving information about the stabbing. The area was cordoned off to preserve evidence, and forensic teams were deployed to collect material clues. Police also reviewed CCTV footage from nearby buildings in an effort to piece together the sequence of events leading up to and following the attack.

According to senior police officials, the two accused fled the scene on a motorcycle immediately after committing the crime. Acting on this information, the police coordinated with neighbouring stations to track their movements. The suspects were eventually located and apprehended near Satudad village.

Both accused were brought back to Jamnagar and detained at the City A Division Police Station for questioning. During preliminary interrogation, police indicated that the motive behind the murder appeared to be a long-standing family dispute linked to Nilay’s marriage.

Investigators revealed that Nilay had married the sister of Manish Mori a few months earlier, a union that reportedly caused significant tension and resentment between the two families. This hostility, police believe, escalated into violence. Officials further stated that the accused allegedly went to Nilay’s residence prior to carrying out the fatal attack.

In a police statement, it was said that Manish Mori, accompanied by his friend Sohil, entered Nilay’s home and later attacked him, leading to his death. Both accused were produced before a local court on Thursday, which granted police a three-day remand to facilitate further interrogation and the recovery of the weapons used in the crime.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to reconstruct the exact chain of events, clearly establish the individual roles of each accused, and determine whether any additional persons were involved in planning or executing the murder.
