A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district in the early hours of Saturday when a man allegedly attacked his wife and son with a sharp weapon before taking his own life. The incident occurred around 3 am, when the man, identified as Ganpat Lal Meena, reportedly assaulted his family members while they were asleep inside their home.
Police said Ganpat Lal attacked his wife, Manju Meena, aged 40, and his 19-year-old son, Harish Meena, causing them serious injuries. After receiving information about the attack, local police rushed to the scene at around 3 am and found the mother and son in an injured condition. They were given preliminary medical assistance at the spot and were then shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
During the initial inspection of the scene, police also recovered the body of Ganpat Lal. He was found hanging, and injury marks were noticed on his neck. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and to complete legal formalities.
According to officials, Ganpat Lal was a government school teacher and had also been serving as a booth-level officer during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision drive. Preliminary information suggests that he had been involved in a domestic dispute with his wife. Following the argument, he allegedly attacked both his wife and son while they were asleep and later died by suicide.
The police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. A further probe is underway to find out the exact reasons behind the domestic dispute and the circumstances that led to the violent act. Officials said all angles are being examined as part of the investigation.
