Business mogul supports his son, asserting that the Lamborghini experienced a malfunction

Kanpur-based tobacco businessman KK Mishra has rejected claims that his son, Shivam Mishra, was driving the Lamborghini involved in a crash, asserting that the vehicle was being operated by a hired chauffeur when it allegedly developed a technical fault and caused the accident. The crash left a pedestrian injured and damaged multiple vehicles.

Addressing the media, KK Mishra said the car was being driven by a man named Mohan, while Shivam was seated inside the vehicle at the time. He claimed that during the drive, Shivam suddenly felt unwell and dizzy, prompting one of the accompanying bouncers to break open the driver-side door and pull him out.

“My son’s health deteriorated very quickly. By the time he reached home, he was unconscious. We immediately sent him to Delhi, where he is currently receiving treatment under medical supervision,” Mishra said.

Describing the situation as distressing, he added that the family was under pressure on multiple fronts. “The past few days have been extremely difficult. On one side, the police were harassing us, and on the other, my son was critically ill and the car was severely damaged. He had gone out only to inspect the vehicle along with the driver. The car was being driven by the driver,” he said.

Maintaining that his family had not broken any law, KK Mishra said they would cooperate fully with the investigation. “We will comply with whatever the law requires and appear whenever summoned. We have not done anything illegal,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mishra’s lawyer, Dharmendra Singh Dharam, questioned the police’s version of events, alleging discrepancies in the investigation. He claimed that the injured pedestrian, Taufiq Ahmed, who was asked to lodge a complaint, later informed the court that his statement was recorded without a proper inquiry. “His application does not reflect that any detailed investigation was conducted,” the lawyer said.

Shivam Mishra’s counsel, Mrityunjay Mishra, also supported the family’s stance, reiterating that the Lamborghini was being driven by a hired chauffeur and not by Shivam.

New CCTV footage that emerged on Tuesday shows visuals from shortly before and after the crash. The footage captures the luxury car entering the area on Sunday afternoon, followed by bodyguards arriving at the scene moments later to provide assistance. However, the footage does not clearly reveal who was driving the car, as the vehicle’s windows were heavily tinted.

The case gained momentum on Monday when police registered an FIR against an unidentified driver and seized the Lamborghini. As the investigation progressed, Shivam Mishra’s name was later cited as the person allegedly behind the wheel.

Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said the driver’s identity was not included in the FIR initially because it was unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time the case was registered.
