Police claim the SP leader was nabbed after his family files a missing person's complaint

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Manoj Yadav, also known as Bablu, has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with allegations of issuing threats and making casteist remarks against an individual, officials said. The arrest clarified earlier speculation that the party leader had gone missing.

According to police sources, a complaint had been filed against Yadav a few days earlier, accusing him of intimidating a person and using caste-based abusive language. Acting on the FIR, authorities initiated legal proceedings and subsequently took him into custody.

The arrest caused considerable attention in the state after his family members reported him missing when he failed to return home. Yadav had reportedly travelled to Kakori to attend a tilak ceremony, and when he did not come back, relatives approached the police fearing something had happened to him.

Police later confirmed that there was no disappearance and that he had been detained as part of the investigation into the case registered against him. Following his arrest, Yadav was brought under tight security to a community health centre for a mandatory medical examination before being transported to Lucknow for further legal procedures.

Officials said the action was taken strictly on the basis of the complaint and subsequent investigation, and further proceedings in the matter will continue in accordance with the law.
