A serious accident was narrowly avoided in Karnataka’s Mangaluru after a speeding motorcycle crashed into an electric pole, with two students miraculously escaping without major injuries. The incident, captured on CCTV, showed how reckless speed nearly resulted in a fatal outcome before locals rushed in to help the injured riders.
According to the footage, the motorcycle was travelling at a breakneck speed when the riders suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The bike veered off course and slammed directly into an electric pole, the force of the collision being strong enough to snap the pole completely. Both riders were thrown off the motorcycle upon impact, but despite the severity of the crash, they did not suffer serious injuries.
Soon after the accident, a passerby stopped at the scene and alerted nearby residents. Locals quickly gathered and provided initial assistance to the injured students before arranging further help. The riders were subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination and treatment as a precautionary measure.
The incident comes just days after a tragic road accident near Mangaluru that claimed five lives when a Tata Indica carrying passengers collided with a KSRTC bus. Police sources said the car was allegedly speeding when the driver lost control, first striking a divider before crossing into the opposite lane and crashing into the bus. The impact completely destroyed the car, killing four passengers aged between 17 and 22 on the spot. A fifth passenger, who was critically injured and taken to a hospital, later succumbed to injuries.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid overspeeding, stressing that reckless driving continues to be a major cause of severe and often fatal road accidents in the region.
