A British broadcast engineer covering the Indian Premier League was discovered dead in a hotel in Mumbai

A British national working as a broadcast engineer for IPL coverage was found dead in his hotel room in Mumbai, prompting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of his death. Authorities have registered a case of unnatural death, though initial findings have not indicated any foul play.

The deceased, 76-year-old Ian William Langford, had been staying at the Trident Hotel since March 24 while working on IPL broadcasts. On March 29, he returned to his room after covering a match. The next morning, repeated attempts by hotel staff to contact him went unanswered.

Concerned by the lack of response, hotel staff accessed the room using a master key and found Langford lying on the floor. An in-house doctor was immediately called to the scene and declared him dead.

Following the discovery, Marine Drive police initiated standard procedures and registered an unnatural death case. His body was subsequently sent to Bombay Hospital for further examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Langford was part of the broadcast team associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, working across multiple IPL venues in Mumbai. Police officials have stated that, based on preliminary checks, there are no signs of suspicious activity, but all aspects of the case are being examined as part of a routine investigation.
