After Nashik Godman was arrested, more than fifty individuals called the police to report him

The investigation into Ashok Kharat has intensified, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) receiving more than 50 calls in just five days from individuals providing information or reporting alleged offences linked to him.

Authorities had earlier released two dedicated mobile numbers to encourage victims and witnesses to come forward. Since then, the SIT has been receiving around 15 to 20 calls daily, many of which contain fresh complaints that are now being verified as part of the ongoing probe.

So far, police have registered at least eight FIRs against Kharat, involving serious allegations such as sexual assault, extortion, and circulation of objectionable material. His arrest on March 18 followed a complaint by a woman who accused him of repeated rape over several years, after which more victims began coming forward with similar claims.

To ensure cooperation, officials have assured that the identity of those reporting information will be kept strictly confidential. Meanwhile, investigative teams, along with forensic experts, have conducted searches at Kharat’s office in Nashik, recovering documents, files, and other materials that could be crucial to the case.

In a parallel administrative action, the Nashik district authorities have suspended Kharat’s arms licence, citing concerns that he could misuse weapons to threaten or intimidate complainants. Police have already recovered a firearm and ammunition from his possession.

With new leads emerging and more testimonies being recorded, the case is rapidly expanding, pointing to a wider pattern of alleged misconduct that investigators are continuing to examine.
