India defeats England to get to the World Cup final because to a superb Sanju Samson score of 253

India scored 253 runs, while England finished at 246 in a high-scoring semifinal of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The match showed how dramatically power-hitting has evolved in modern T20 cricket, where totals in knockout games now regularly cross 200. At Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, both teams played aggressively, but India eventually secured a narrow seven-run win and advanced to the final against New Zealand national cricket team in Ahmedabad.

India’s total of 253 became the highest score ever recorded in a T20 World Cup knockout match. Sanju Samson led the innings with an impressive 89, while Jasprit Bumrah delivered a tight bowling spell that helped control England’s chase.

For England, Jacob Bethell produced a remarkable performance, scoring 105 runs from just 48 balls and keeping his team in contention until the final over. However, England’s hopes ended when Bethell was run out on the first ball of the last over while they needed 30 runs to win.

England had earlier lost key batters Harry Brook and Jos Buttler cheaply. Bethell later built a rapid 77-run partnership with Will Jacks, briefly reviving the chase. They attacked India’s spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who struggled on a night when bowlers found little help from the pitch.

England’s fielding mistakes also proved costly, including dropping Samson early in his innings. The missed opportunities eventually contributed to the narrow defeat.

India’s bowlers maintained composure despite the batting-friendly conditions and continued to take timely wickets, ensuring England never fully caught up with the required rate. With the win, India reached the T20 World Cup final for the fourth time.

Former captain Rohit Sharma watched the match from the stands. Having once suffered a painful semifinal loss to England at the Adelaide Oval, he likely felt satisfaction seeing India overcome the same opponent and continue the aggressive white-ball approach he had helped shape.
