On March 22, Yogi Adityanath will deliver appointment letters for UP nursing officers

The Uttar Pradesh government has fixed March 22 for distributing appointment letters to newly selected nursing officers, bringing an end to a prolonged delay that had triggered months of protests among candidates.

The letters will be handed out at a formal event at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to distribute them. Instructions for organising the event have already been issued by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Amit Kumar Ghosh.

The decision comes after sustained pressure from candidates selected through the UPPSC Staff Nurse (Nursing Officer) Allopathy 2023 recruitment. Many of them had repeatedly approached the Directorate of Health and even the residence of Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak, demanding clarity on their appointments. Protests intensified at various points, including gatherings outside government offices where candidates sought answers after months of uncertainty.

Despite the recruitment process being completed well in advance, candidates were left waiting without a confirmed timeline. The preliminary exam was conducted in December 2023, followed by the mains in July 2024, with results declared in March 2025. Document verification and certificate scrutiny were completed by late 2025, and medical college postings were finalised in November that year.

Even after all formalities were concluded, appointment letters were not issued, leaving many candidates unemployed. Several had already resigned from private jobs in anticipation of joining government service, leading to financial strain and social pressure.

The announcement of a fixed distribution date follows increased scrutiny and public attention on the issue. With the March 22 event now confirmed, the selected candidates are expected to finally begin their roles after nearly ten months of waiting since the results were declared.
