A young married couple was found dead in their home in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, with both bodies hanging from a ceiling fan while dressed in wedding attire. The incident occurred on Wednesday night and was discovered by family members, who immediately informed the police.
The deceased were identified as 22-year-old Rajendra, also known as Golu, and his 21-year-old wife, Kajal Patel. Kajal was reportedly wearing a bridal sari, while Rajendra was dressed in a groom’s suit, making the circumstances of their deaths particularly disturbing. Medical examination later revealed that Kajal was approximately one-and-a-half months pregnant.
According to family accounts, the couple had been married for about three years through a love marriage and were believed to be living a stable and normal life. On the night of the incident, they had dinner with the family as usual before going to their room. When they did not come out for a long time, Rajendra’s father checked on them and found both hanging.
Police reached the scene shortly after being alerted, conducted an initial inspection, and completed necessary procedures before sending the bodies to the Community Health Centre in Rahli for post-mortem examination. Preliminary medical findings suggest death by hanging, though the exact cause will be confirmed after the final report.
Authorities confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene, and no external injury marks were observed on the bodies. The case is currently being treated as a suspected suicide, and police are continuing their investigation by recording statements from family members and close acquaintances.
Officials stated that all possible angles are being examined to understand the circumstances that may have led the couple to take such an extreme step, especially as relatives have indicated that there were no known disputes or tensions in their relationship.
