A consumer court case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Rajshree Pan Masala has encountered a procedural setback after the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Jaipur returned key documents, citing technical deficiencies that prevent proper forensic examination. The case, being heard in the District Consumer Court in Kota, Rajasthan, revolves around allegations of misleading advertisements featuring the actor.
The FSL had been tasked with verifying the authenticity of signatures on certain documents submitted to the court. However, on April 8, the laboratory sent the documents back, stating that they did not meet the required standards for scientific analysis. As a result, no conclusive examination could be carried out in their current form.
Taking note of this development, the consumer court has directed that the identified deficiencies be rectified before the documents are resubmitted for forensic testing. The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for April 21, indicating that the verification process remains a key component of the ongoing proceedings.
During the hearing, counsel for Rajshree Pan Masala argued that the existing documents were unsuitable for forensic evaluation, a position acknowledged by the court. Meanwhile, the complainant, Indramohan Singh Honey, submitted an affidavit and expressed that the court’s direction would help ensure clarity regarding the authenticity of the disputed material.
The controversy over the signatures dates back to December 26, 2025, when the complainant raised concerns about their genuineness and sought a detailed examination. The District Consumer Court had subsequently ordered a scientific verification and directed the concerned party to submit a sworn affidavit.
This order was challenged before the State Consumer Commission in Jaipur, which initially granted a stay on the examination. However, after reviewing arguments from both sides, the Commission lifted the stay and allowed the verification process to proceed, reaffirming the lower court’s direction.
At the core of the case are allegations that advertisements by Rajshree Pan Masala, endorsed by Salman Khan, may have been misleading. The complainant has questioned the accuracy of the claims made in these advertisements and raised concerns about their potential influence on younger audiences.
With the forensic examination currently stalled due to technical issues, the case now hinges on the correction and resubmission of documents, after which the verification process can resume and potentially play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the dispute.
