Two men attempt to escape as a bike jams after killing a UP lawyer in broad daylight

A lawyer was shot dead in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur, with CCTV footage revealing that the attackers faced a brief delay while attempting to escape after the incident. The killing took place in the Katwaru Ka Pura locality and has been identified as the murder of advocate Rajeev Singh.

According to initial reports, Singh had stepped out for his usual morning walk when he was targeted by assailants arriving on a motorcycle. One of the attackers got down from the vehicle and fired at him from close range using a country-made pistol. The sudden attack left Singh critically injured, and he collapsed on the spot, succumbing to his injuries immediately.

The CCTV footage of the incident provides a detailed sequence of events, showing the assailant waiting before approaching the victim and carrying out the shooting at close proximity. An accomplice remained seated on the motorcycle during the attack, ready to assist in the escape.

After carrying out the shooting, the attacker hurried back to the motorcycle to flee the scene. However, the vehicle failed to start immediately, causing a brief delay that was captured on camera. During this time, some local residents began to gather nearby, but the accused reportedly threatened them, preventing any immediate intervention. The motorcycle eventually started, allowing the attackers to escape.

The incident has caused panic in the area and sparked anger among members of the legal community. Police arrived at the scene after being informed, took custody of the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched an investigation and are using the CCTV footage to identify and trace the accused.
