A shocking incident unfolded at Sadar Hospital on Friday after a 14-year-old girl reportedly gave birth inside a toilet on the hospital premises, leading to panic among patients, attendants, and hospital staff when the newborn was later discovered trapped inside the toilet pan.
According to officials and eyewitness accounts, the minor girl was seen emerging from a toilet located in the hospital’s ward area in a visibly distressed and weak condition. People nearby reportedly noticed blood stains both inside and outside the toilet area, raising immediate suspicion that something serious had occurred.
Witnesses alerted hospital staff after observing the unusual scene and realising that the girl appeared physically unstable and frightened.
Reports stated that the girl allegedly attempted to leave the hospital premises shortly afterwards. However, she reportedly collapsed a short distance away after experiencing dizziness and weakness.
Following the incident, hospital authorities were informed immediately, and personnel from the Town Police Station also arrived at the scene to assist with the situation.
When police officers and hospital staff entered and inspected the toilet area, they reportedly discovered the newborn trapped inside the toilet pan. Officials said the situation quickly became urgent because the baby needed immediate rescue and medical attention.
Doctors, hospital employees, and police personnel then worked together in a coordinated effort to safely remove the newborn from the toilet.
After the rescue operation, an ambulance was called, and both the mother and the baby were shifted to the Maternal and Child Hospital for emergency treatment and medical observation.
According to hospital authorities, both the girl and the newborn were admitted for treatment soon after arrival.
Pradeep Baitha, Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, stated that both the mother and child were currently stable and under medical supervision.
He said doctors were carefully monitoring their condition and confirmed that, at present, both were reported to be normal and out of immediate danger.
Meanwhile, Ratan Kumar Singh stated that police had begun a detailed investigation into the incident.
Officials said all aspects of the case would be examined carefully, especially considering the girl’s young age and the circumstances under which the delivery occurred inside the hospital toilet.
Police are expected to investigate how the minor became pregnant, whether any crime or exploitation was involved, and the conditions that led to her giving birth alone without immediate medical assistance despite being inside a hospital premises.
The incident has raised serious concerns regarding child safety, healthcare supervision, and the circumstances surrounding pregnancies involving minors, while authorities continue their inquiry into the case.
