A Gujarati father dies after being hit 36 times with an iron rod by his son's in-laws

A 52-year-old man was brutally murdered in Ahmedabad following what police described as a prolonged domestic dispute involving tensions between two families. Investigators have so far arrested three relatives of the victim’s daughter-in-law in connection with the killing, while one more accused remains absconding. The case has drawn attention after police revealed that the murder was allegedly carefully planned after months of family conflict and repeated confrontations between both sides.

The victim was identified as Natubhai Parmar, who was attacked on May 2 beneath a bridge in Ahmedabad. According to police officials, the attackers repeatedly assaulted him using iron rods and sticks, causing severe injuries that led to his death on the spot. Authorities said the assault was extremely violent in nature, and the accused allegedly fled immediately after carrying out the attack. The incident was partially captured on CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding area, which later became an important source of evidence for investigators.

Police stated that the murder initially appeared to be a targeted attack, and subsequent investigation confirmed that the crime stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute within the victim’s family. The arrested accused have been identified as Hasmukh Vaghela, Kanti Vana, and Bhavesh Parmar, all of whom are reportedly relatives of Natubhai’s daughter-in-law. According to officials, the trio was arrested in Banaskantha while allegedly attempting to escape towards Rajasthan after the murder. Another accused identified as Ketan is still absconding, and police teams are continuing search operations to locate and arrest him.

Investigators revealed that Natubhai’s son, Kaushik Parmar, had entered into a love marriage nearly five years ago. However, according to police, tensions between Kaushik and his wife reportedly escalated after the couple suffered a miscarriage. Officials said the relationship had become increasingly strained over the past six months, leading to frequent disputes between the husband and wife as well as between their respective families. During this period, Kaushik’s wife had reportedly been staying at her parental home.

Police further stated that the conflict intensified after Natubhai and his son visited the woman’s family residence to discuss the ongoing marital issues. During that meeting, arguments allegedly broke out between both sides. Officials said tensions rose again on April 28 when members of the daughter-in-law’s family visited Natubhai’s residence, resulting in another confrontation that further worsened relations between the families.

According to investigators, Hasmukh Vaghela, who is said to be the maternal uncle of Kaushik’s wife, allegedly planned the murder after these repeated disputes. Police believe that anger and resentment linked to the ongoing family conflict eventually led to the conspiracy. On the night of the incident, the accused allegedly intercepted Natubhai near the bridge and launched the fatal assault before escaping from the scene on motorcycles.

The investigation was carried out jointly by teams from the crime branch and the Anandnagar police station. Officials said they used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and local intelligence inputs to trace the movements of the accused after the crime. During the manhunt, police discovered that the suspects had allegedly been hiding in temples and small guest houses in an attempt to avoid arrest and evade police tracking.

Authorities confirmed that the three arrested accused are currently being interrogated to determine the complete sequence of events leading to the murder. Investigators are also examining whether additional individuals may have assisted in planning or carrying out the attack. Police said further investigation is underway while efforts continue to apprehend the absconding accused, Ketan.
