Bengal is experiencing unrest, Manipur is on fire, and the BJP believes Punjab is next: AAP's Sanjay Singh

Sanjay Singh on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing the party of attempting to create unrest in Punjab and alleging that its so-called “Mission Punjab” had effectively begun with the twin explosions reported in Amritsar and Jalandhar earlier this week. During a press briefing, the AAP leader questioned whether the BJP was trying to spread violence and instability in the border state ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for next year.

Singh’s remarks came in the backdrop of two explosions that occurred near sensitive security establishments in Punjab on Tuesday night, triggering panic and concern among residents while also sparking a fierce political confrontation between the AAP and the BJP.

According to police officials, the first explosion took place around 8 pm near the BSF headquarters in Jalandhar, while the second blast was reported around 11 pm near the Army cantonment area in Khasa, located in Amritsar. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in either incident.

Investigators suspect that the blasts may have been part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI to create disruption and tension around the anniversary of Operation Sindoor. Security agencies have intensified surveillance and investigations in the aftermath of the explosions.

Referring to the incidents, Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP wanted to disturb the atmosphere in the country for political gains. He pointed to ongoing unrest in different parts of India and claimed that Punjab was now being targeted politically ahead of the elections.

The AAP MP stated that Manipur had been witnessing violence for the past three years, while post-poll violence in West Bengal had intensified after elections there. According to him, after these developments, the BJP was now signalling that Punjab was next on its political agenda.

Singh further alleged that there were direct connections between the BJP and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency, or ISI. Referring to the Pathankot terror attack incident, he claimed that similar patterns had been witnessed earlier as well. According to Singh, the explosions in Amritsar and Jalandhar were part of a deliberate strategy aimed at disturbing peace in Punjab before the upcoming assembly elections.

Continuing his criticism, the AAP leader accused the BJP of having a “history of joining hands with the ISI.” He also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously “invited” Pakistani investigators during the Pathankot attack probe, which he cited while attempting to support his claims.

Singh further said that the same ISI, which India has repeatedly accused of involvement in terror-related incidents across the country, was allegedly connected to forces with which the BJP maintained close ties. Based on these accusations, he said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the AAP had held the BJP responsible for the explosions in Amritsar and Jalandhar.

Bhagwant Mann had on Wednesday also blamed the BJP for the two explosions and alleged that this was the manner in which the party was preparing for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. His remarks further intensified the political confrontation between the ruling AAP in Punjab and the BJP at the national level.

The BJP strongly rejected the allegations and hit back at the AAP leadership. Tarun Chugh described Mann’s statements as “irresponsible” and “immature.” He accused the AAP government in Punjab of failing to maintain law and order and alleged that public safety in the state had deteriorated significantly under its administration.

Chugh further claimed that the Punjab government had failed to ensure adequate security for residents and argued that incidents like the recent explosions reflected a collapse of law and order in the state rather than any political conspiracy involving the BJP.

The twin blast incidents have not only raised security concerns in Punjab but have also escalated into a major political flashpoint, with both the AAP and BJP exchanging serious allegations over responsibility, security failures, and alleged attempts to influence the political atmosphere ahead of future elections in the state.
