Five people are arrested by Barabanki Police in connection with a Rs 10 crore theft, an Audi vehicle, and a luxury villa

Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki have successfully solved a major high-profile theft case involving jewellery valued at nearly Rs 10 crore and have arrested five people allegedly linked to the crime. During the investigation, officials recovered a substantial quantity of stolen jewellery, around Rs 15 lakh in cash, and also froze bank deposits worth nearly Rs 20 lakh connected to the accused.

According to investigators, the alleged mastermind behind the theft was identified as Akarsh Singh, who reportedly lived in a luxurious villa located directly opposite the victim’s bungalow. Police further stated that he allegedly used an Audi car while planning and executing the conspiracy, which added to the sensational nature of the case.

During the course of the investigation, police discovered that Akarsh Singh had allegedly suffered severe financial losses through stock market trading and betting activities. Investigators believe that mounting financial pressure pushed him into planning the crime. To carry out the theft, he allegedly joined hands with four of his associates and carefully plotted the burglary over a period of time.

Police said the accused targeted bungalow C-5, owned by Ajay Singh Baghel, from where expensive jewellery worth between Rs 8 crore and Rs 10 crore was allegedly stolen. Following the incident, the victim approached the police and filed a complaint regarding the disappearance of valuable ornaments and other costly items from the residence.

Given the scale and seriousness of the theft, Barabanki police formed five separate special investigation teams to crack the case. Officials relied heavily on CCTV footage collected from nearby areas, along with technical surveillance and intelligence gathering, to trace the suspects and uncover the entire conspiracy.

As the investigation progressed, police reportedly learned that a portion of the stolen jewellery had already been sold to a jeweller. Acting quickly on these leads, officers conducted raids and recovered a large amount of jewellery as well as cash from the accused individuals. Authorities also identified two bank accounts linked to the case and froze deposits worth approximately Rs 20 lakh to prevent further movement of the suspected money.

Barabanki Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the police teams that worked on solving the case. Praising the investigation, the SP stated that CCTV footage and surveillance technology played a crucial role in identifying the accused and piecing together the sequence of events.

Explaining the motive behind the crime, the SP said that the main accused, Akarsh Singh, had been facing major losses in the stock market and betting, after which he allegedly planned the theft along with his friends. Police confirmed that all five accused have now been arrested and sent to jail while further legal proceedings in the case continue.
